The University of Botswana Innovation Centre (UBIC) is pleased to announce its co-implementation of the SME Digital Maturity Upskilling and Accelerator Program, an initiative aimed at enhancing the digital capabilities of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) across Botswana. This pioneering project, led by BCS Digital Skills Academy (BCS Koolitus AS) in collaboration with UBIC, is scheduled to run through May 31, 2025.
The SME Digital Maturity Upskilling and Accelerator Program is dedicated to strengthening digital competencies among key personnel within Botswana’s SME sector, empowering businesses to innovate and thrive in an increasingly digital world. With the expertise of BCS Digital Skills Academy and UBIC’s strategic support, this initiative will deliver customized training and skill development to SMEs, setting a foundation for sustainable digital growth.
The project’s implementation will follow a phased approach:
Competence Development : May–October 2024
Program Design: August–December 2024:
An 8-day training program for company managers to build core digital skills.
A more extensive 3 to 6-month accelerator program for company teams, providing a hands-on, immersive experience in digital skill application. These programs will integrate theoretical instruction, practical exercises, and interactive sessions, including discussions and debates, to encourage active learning and application of digital skills.
The project is driven by a collaborative partnership between UBIC and BCS Digital Skills Academy. Established as one of Botswana’s centre for digital development and innovation, UBIC brings invaluable local knowledge, resources, and strategic support to the project, ensuring it meets the unique needs of Botswana’s SME sector.
