The Sustainable Technology & Indigenous Knowledge Makeathon 2024 is an exciting multidisciplinary innovation program where teams will work on developing Minimum Demonstrable Products (MDPs) with commercial potential. The focus is on various sectors, including food or agri-tech solutions, smart and sustainable mining, smart mobility, and renewable energy. Projects can also explore waste and energy solutions, alternative medicine, skincare, and indigenous knowledge.

Teams from fields like chemistry, environmental science, mining, creative industries, electronics, and materials science will collaborate with the private sector to drive innovation. This is a unique opportunity for creative minds to develop practical solutions that integrate sustainability and indigenous knowledge.The deadline for submitting your project concept note is 30 October 2024

ProjectOverview

TheSME Digital Maturity Upskilling and Accelerator Program aims toenhance digital capabilities among key personnel of small and mediumenterprises (SMEs) in Botswana. Running from May 1, 2024, to May 31,2025, this initiative is led by BCS Digital Skills Academy (BCSKoolitus AS) in close partnership with the University of BotswanaInnovation Centre (UBIC).

ProjectActivities

Theproject unfolds in several stages. Initially, from May to October2024, the focus will be on developing competence profiles for SMEdigital leaders and defining the necessary learning outcomes tocreate a comprehensive curriculum. Following this, from August toDecember 2024, the project will design two key programs: an 8-daytraining program tailored for company managers and a more extensive 3to 6-month accelerator program for company teams. These programs willinclude detailed time and activity plans featuring theoreticallessons, practical tasks, discussions, and debates.

FromNovember 2024 to April 2025, the project will concentrate ondeveloping educational materials, including instructional guides,slide materials and AI-generated video lectures for the maintheoretical modules. The final stage, occurring between April and May2025, involves pilot-testing these programs and materials andconducting train-the-trainer seminars to ensure the program’ssustainability and effectiveness.
